Reconciling All Things

Reconciling All Things by Emmanuel Katongole & Chris Rice
A Christian Vision for Justice, Peace and Healing

I love this book! It is seeming to me that reconciliation is the major theme of scripture; and sadly it seems to be the most foreign concept in American churches with our division, our same-as-the-world divorce rates, our complicity with the empire, etc. Chapter 8 - The Heart, Spirit and Life of Leadership was exactly what I needed to read at this point of my life.

Dog-Ears:

  • pg. 10 - the church needs fresh resources
  • pg. 33 - justice without communion and reconciliation as firefighting
  • pg. 58 - our calling as peacemakers
  • pg. 85 - the story of the Ivy League young woman
  • pg. 90 - pilgrimage, relocation, and confession
  • pg. 94 - learning to lament
  • pg. 101 - repentance and conversion
  • pg. 104 - prophetic presence and prophetic distance
  • pg. 122 - the church as "non-salt"
  • pg. 123 - chapter 8 - all of it
  • pg. 127 - finding the gaps
  • pg. 133 - rejection, loneliness and disappointment
  • pg. 136 - CP and the klansman
  • pg. 137 - Archbishop John Baptist Odama
