Letters From A Skeptic

Letters From A Skeptic by Dr. Gregory A. Boyd and Edward K. Boyd
A Son Wrestles with His Father's Questions about Christianity

1 Peter 3.15
"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect..."

The book is based on a series of letters exchanged by believing son (Greg) and skeptic father (Ed). I'm not deeply interested in apologetics (some people are gifted this way and I let them do all the hard work) but this book addresses many of the questions I've had and heard over the years. Greg responds in a gentle and respectful way.

Reading through this book it is awesome to see the slow transformation of Ed from a set-in-his-ways, tough guy to a gentle man with a child-like faith. It is also inspiring to see the patience and prayerful persistence of Greg. There were a few times when I would have given up...

This is the first book that I've read authored by an "open theist"...and kind felt like they (open theists) were the boogey-man, with no strong reason other than a few things I had gleaned from others that are opposed to the concepts presented in open theism. Not sure this debate is a "hill that I would die on."
